Transportation Program Associate

Summary/Objective. The Program Associate at the Community Transportation Assn. of America (CTAA) will support and report to the Deputy Director in completing deliverables for Association projects, including those funded through federal grants. Approximately 90% of the Associate’s time will be spent on behalf of the National Center for Mobility Management (NCMM), a technical assistance center operated by CTAA and funded by the Federal Transit Administration. The Associate’s remaining time will be dedicated to supporting CTAA projects.

Salary range: $65,000-$75,000 (commensurate with experience)

Essential Functions

  1. Contribute to the content developed for and disseminated by NCMM for its target audience (e.g., webinars, blog entries, promising practice profiles)
  2. Provide technical assistance on issues pertaining to community transportation, mobility management, and related topics to the target audience
  3. Provide oversight and support for NCMM grant projects.
  4. Develop content expertise in areas that support NCMM’s mission and target audience. Applicant will be encouraged to become the lead in at least one content area.
  5. Attend training to develop facilitation skills and gradually move into facilitating community meetings.
  6. Assist NCMM in supporting the federal Coordinating Council on Access and Mobility
  7. Contribute to the development of training content for CTAA’s annual EXPO meeting and, if appropriate, facilitate workshops.
  8. Contribute to other NCMM and CTAA projects not specified above.

 Desired Experience/Skills/Qualities

  1. An understanding of community mobility issues, including in relation to public transportation, volunteer driver programs, microtransit, and technology related to community mobility.
  2. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Applicant will eventually be asked deliver verbal presentations before audiences of diverse sizes and expertise related to transportation.
  3. Demonstrated team participation and team building experience, coupled with capacity to work independently.
  4. A demonstrated work ethic and professional dedication to providing high-quality products.
  5. Passion to assist communities and their residents in improving mobility opportunities.
  6. Other unique skills you possess – tell us about them!

Required Education/Experience

  1. BA degree required in a liberal arts field, a transportation-related field, or a human services field, plus at least 2 years’ experience with community mobility or other relevant discipline (please describe why relevant in cover letter).
  2. Willingness to travel domestically (approx. 3-7 times/year).
  3. Familiarization Microsoft software products (e.g., Word, Excel).

Work Environment

This position is located in a professional office environment in Washington, D.C., with a mix of in-person and remote work. Individual should be based within commuting distance of Washington, D.C. or be willing to relocate within 6 months.
