Iowa City’s fare-free program boosts bus ridership by 38% in its second month

The City of Iowa City says that ridership on City buses is up 38% in September 2023, when compared to September 2022.

This is the second Month of Fare Free Iowa City which in its first month saw a 53% increase in August 2023 compared to August 2022.

In total 143,940 trips were taken in September, 39,783 more then in 2022.
