In an innovative approach to tackle the nation’s truck driver shortage and provide meaningful employment to formerly incarcerated individuals, Connecticut’s Department of Corrections and Department of Motor Vehicles have launched a groundbreaking “Inmate Truck Driver Program”. This initiative equips inmates with the skills and qualifications to earn their commercial driver’s license (CDL) while still behind bars, preparing them for a stable career upon their release.
